Artist Statement (winter 2007)

I build rough sculptures of iconic figures, objects, and landscapes. Their iconic significance is altered through the construction process and the viewer’s instinctive association to contemporary issues. I work with a wide variety of materials including Plexiglas, wood, Styrofoam, cardboard, steel, plaster. These raw materials are specific to each project and influence both the form and concept. My sculptures are made with a rough but detailed craftsmanship emphasizing the hand fashioned quality that is juxtaposed with the iconic and glossy nature of the source.
